Job summary

Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD is seeking a Pharmacy Technician to assist in drug preparation, storage, distribution and inventory under supervision of a pharmacist. This role supports efficient medication delivery and patient safety.

Responsibilities include inputting orders, labeling, interfacing with nursing staff and physicians, maintaining records for accreditations, and assisting with inventory and clerical tasks. On-site day shifts with a pay range of $20.00-$28.00 per hour.

Qualifications

• Current registration as a Pharmacy Technician in the state of practice.
• Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) by NHA or PTCB.
• Active registration within 30 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Under pharmacist supervision, inputs/prepares labels and packages inpatient or outpatient medication orders.
• Communicates with nursing staff, physicians, customers, and management to promote patient safety.
• Demonstrates knowledge of medications, calculations, regulations, PPE, and patient safety.
• Performs clerical functions such as billing, patient demographics and pharmacy inventory.
• Assists with collection/maintenance of records for accreditation entities (e.g., Joint Commission, OSHA).
• Assists customers on the phone or in person.
• Runs reports and uses the automated dispensing system; conducts monthly stock inspections.
• Proficiency in compounding practices (e.g., Botox, chemotherapy).
