Job summary

The Town of Holly Springs is seeking a Permit Technician/Certified Permit Technician in the Development Services department to facilitate and process applications and plan reviews for general construction to verify compliance with adopted codes and ordinances. This role also handles documentation and record keeping of permits.

Typically 8 AM–5 PM, Monday–Friday, with potential evenings and weekends. Starting salaries range from about $49,794 to $52,758 depending on certification and experience.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Two (2) years’ work experience in building construction, code enforcement or plan review.
• Certified Permit Technician is required to successfully complete NC Building Level I course or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Receives, examines, processes, and issues permits within area of responsibility.
• Provides customer service to internal and external customers; greets, screens visitors and customers; addresses questions or refers to staff.
• Issues contractor licenses.
• Assists visitors with submitting new plans, revised plans, payments, and schedules inspections.
• Drafts related documents associated with the permit for staff review.
• Schedules inspections, as needed.
• Maintains department electronic databases, files, forms and records.
