Job summary

Anderson Hospital is seeking a Surgical Technician to support the perioperative team under the supervision of nursing staff, delivering safe and effective care to the surgical patient during the intraperative period and handling on-call responsibilities.

The role emphasizes adherence to aseptic technique, patient rights, and collaboration with the care team. Required CPR certification; CST certification preferred; one year of surgical technician experience is desirable.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Surgical Technology diploma or documented on-the-job training.
• CPR certification from American Heart Association; Certified Surgical Technologist preferred; 1 year surgical tech experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Maintains departmental and personal work schedules.
• Supports patients' rights and responsibilities, including respect of cultural and religious diversity.
• Provides age-appropriate and population-specific care in a safe, skilled, accurate and efficient manner.
• Maintains current knowledge of hospital and departmental policies and procedures.
• Conducts self in a professional manner.
• Demonstrates surgical aseptic technique by following policies.
• Engages in activities to expand and/or enhance the professional role, including integration of research and evidence-based practice.
• Performs patient care in a safe and effective manner.
• Facilitates interventions per the patient’s plan of care and provides appropriate nursing interventions during surgical care.
• Follows policy for cleaning, disinfecting and sterilization of scopes and instruments.
• Follows policy for environmental cleaning and housekeeping.

Education
