Job summary

Berkshire Health Systems in North Adams, MA seeks a Certified Surgical Technologist to support the Operating Room Team. You will assist with surgical interventions, prepare instruments, maintain sterile technique, and collaborate with circulating nurses to ensure patient safety and optimal outcomes.

The role requires a graduate of an accredited program, CPR, and CST certification within six months. Cross-training opportunities to North County ASC and Sterile Processing may be available.

Qualifications

Job description

A Certified Surgical Technician is a paraprofessional qualified by a didactic and clinical training to provide Services in the Operating Room under the supervision and responsibility of the Operating Room Director and RN circulatory nurses or her/his designee. As part of the Operating Room Team, he/she is responsible for the technical aspects of the patients surgical intervention. The Certified Surgical Technologist and Circulating Nurse work as a team as the surgical patients advocate.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS (Minimum qualifications are required unless stated otherwise.)

• Experience:
• Knowledge and application of surgical aseptic technique required.
• Familiarity with basic surgical procedures, instruments, equipment, physiology, microbiology, anatomy and psychological process required.
• Recent experience in Operating Room technology.
• Has verbal ability to use and understand medical terminology to fulfill quickly and accurately Surgeons and Nurses instructions.

Education and Training:

• Graduate of a CAAHEP Accredited Surgical Technologist Program.

License, Certification & Registration:

• CPR
• CST - Certified Surgical Technologist within six months of employment.

Other Requirements:

• Ability to anticipate and meet the needs of the Surgical Team required.
• Ability to meet the needs of the patients for safety, comfort, and reassurance required.
• Must be willing to cross-train to North County ASC, North County Sterile Processing & BMC Endo.
• Must be willing to function in other capacities needed for the department.
• Capable of rapid and accurate movements of body and hands in response to visual and audio stimuli.
• Able to perform a variety of duties in the Operating Room under supervision of the Registered Nurse.
