Job summary

Northwest Health in Indiana is seeking a Certified Surgical Technician to join our operating room team. You will prepare the OR, maintain a sterile field, anticipate the surgical team's needs, pass instruments, and help with patient positioning to ensure safe, efficient, and high‑quality care throughout procedures.

The role requires CST certification and BLS, 0–2 years OR experience, and a strong commitment to infection control, teamwork, and excellent communication with the perioperative staff.

Qualifications

• Technical School graduate of Surgical Technology or Practical Nursing program.
• Associate Degree in Surgical Technology or Applied Sciences.
• 0-2 years OR surgical technician experience.

Responsibilities

• Prepares the operating room by ensuring instruments, equipment, and supplies are ready for the procedure.
• Maintains a sterile field during the procedure and observes universal precautions.
• Anticipates surgeon needs and passes instruments and supplies efficiently.
• Inspects, cleans, and sterilizes instruments according to policy and manufacturer instructions.
• Counts sponges, needles, and instruments with the circulating nurse.
• Assists with patient positioning, draping, and transfer under the RN's direction.
• Supports maintenance of physician preference cards and documentation.
• Restocks supplies and readies rooms for subsequent cases to ensure OR efficiency.
