Banner Desert Medical Center is seeking a Patient Care Assistant to join our Renal Dialysis unit. You will be responsible for recording patient vitals, monitoring dialysis machines required by patients suffering from acute or chronic kidney failure. We strive to provide a highly coordinated experience for our patients, focusing on excellent outcomes and an exceptional patient experience.

This is a full-time day shift position working 3 shifts a week from 5 am to 5:30 pm. Holiday and weekend rotations are required. Enjoy a flat rate $1/hour weekend shift differential and an 18% night shift differential when applicable.

Position Summary

This position provides routine patient care to promote comfort and contribute to the overall patient care plan. Responsibilities include ongoing data collection, documentation, and supporting efficient unit operations.

Core Functions
  1. Assist with activities of daily living, including hygiene, mobility, and nutritional support.
  2. Collect patient data such as vital signs, input/output, and specimens, and document accurately.
  3. Recognize and report health status changes to licensed professionals, ensuring continuity of care.
  4. Perform delegated procedures like blood draws, Foley catheter removal, EKGs, under supervision.
  5. Maintain a clean, stocked environment.
  6. Support department functions, greet and assist patients and visitors.
  7. Work under supervision in a fast-paced environment, demonstrating excellent customer service.

All functions are performed according to policies, standards, and professional guidelines, ensuring excellent service and patient care.

Minimum Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Current BLS certification.
  • Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) in the state of practice.
  • Approximately 1 year of medical clerical or customer service experience.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, computer skills, and organizational abilities.
  • Successful completion of ECG or EEG interpretation test or training.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Arizona Licensed Nursing Assistant (LNA) licensure preferred.
  • Recent healthcare experience preferred.
