Job summary

Hackensack Meridian Pascack Valley Medical Center in Westwood, NJ, is hiring a day shift, full-time Surgical Technician (OR) to support the operating room team.

The CST-certified technologist will perform scrub duties, assist the surgeon, manage sterile supplies, and support circulating RN staff while adhering to hospital policies and AORN standards. NJ certification renewals and BLS timing are required.

Qualifications

• CST or NCCT certification.
• Annually complete 15 hours of continuing education to remain qualified to practice as a surgical technologist in NJ.
• BLS certification must be obtained within 14 days of hire or transfer into the role and prior to providing direct patient care.
• High School or GED equivalent.
• Graduate of Surgical Technologist Program.
• Minimum of one year as a CST.

Responsibilities

• Assists the surgeon in the sterile field according to AORN Standards of Practice Recommendations.
• Performs scrub duties in varied specialties/procedures.
• Ensures the case has the necessary sterile supplies and equipment for the surgeon and procedure.
• Assists with circulating duties under the direct supervision of the RN circulator.
• Adheres to Hospital, State, and departmental policies and procedures.
