Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Maintain an orderly surgical field during procedures.
• Prevent contamination of the sterile field via aseptic technique.
• Follow universal precautions to protect patient, staff and environment.
• Assist with sponge, sharps and instrument counts as required by policy.
• Anticipate surgeon needs and assist as assigned.
• Transfer medications and prescriptive items on the sterile field under direction of RN/surgeon.
• Prepare specimens for pathology.
• Maintain expert knowledge of instrumentation.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
