Job summary

Duke Eye Center of Raleigh is seeking an Ophthalmic Assistant, Certified, to support physicians and technicians in diagnostic testing and patient care at the Duke Eye Center location in Raleigh, NC.

Under close supervision, you will perform testing such as visual acuity, tonometry, lensometry, and pupil assessment, may administer dilation or anesthetic drops, and help with patient contact lens training. Requires JCAHPO certification and BLS.

Qualifications

• Education background generally equivalent to a high school education.
• 1 year of directly related ophthalmology/optometry experience OR graduation from an accredited ophthalmic technician program.
• Certification as a certified Ophthalmic Assistant by JCAHPO and BLS certification are required.

Responsibilities

• Assist physicians with diagnostic tests and basic ophthalmic testing.
• Perform clerical, stocking, and maintenance tasks in exam/procedure rooms.
