Job summary

Duke Clinical Research Institute seeks a Certified Ophthalmic Assistant to support Eye Center physicians by performing essential diagnostic tests and clerical tasks. Ideal candidates will have experience in Ophthalmology or graduation from a certified program, along with the necessary BLS Certification.

The role encompasses direct patient interaction, administering tests such as visual acuity, and maintaining a clean exam environment. This position offers a daytime schedule, with no weekends or holidays.

Qualifications

• 1+ years of experience in Ophthalmology or graduation from an accredited Ophthalmic Technician program.
• Must have BLS Certification.

Responsibilities

• Perform preliminary screening examinations for physician review.
• Direct the flow of patients and handle medical data.
• Examine the eye using a slit lamp.
• Administer dilation or anesthetic drops.
• Explain diagnostic procedures to alleviate patient concerns.
• Maintain the physical environment of exam rooms.
• Assist with clerical tasks related to appointments and data.
