Job summary

TheraCare Staten Island is seeking a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) to deliver Early Intervention services for infants and toddlers in their natural environments on Staten Island. You will focus on fine motor skills, sensory processing, and adaptive behaviors, collaborating with families and the interdisciplinary team to support developmental progress.

  • Current NYS license and registration as COTA.
  • Degree from an accredited COTA program.
  • Experience in early childhood or pediatric therapy strongly preferred.

  • Strong communication, time management, and clinical decision-making skills.
  • Reliable transportation to travel throughout the assigned borough.

Responsibilities

Position Overview

As a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) in the Early Intervention program, you will provide services to infants and toddlers with developmental delays. You will work directly in the child’s natural environment to improve fine motor skills, sensory processing, and adaptive behavior, while collaborating with families and interdisciplinary teams.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide direct occupational therapy services for children ages 0–3
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans aligned with IFSP goals
  • Work collaboratively with families and interdisciplinary team members
  • Coach and educate caregivers to support therapy carryover at home
  • Maintain accurate records and comply with NYC Early Intervention documentation standards
