Job summary

Aegis Healthcare is hiring a Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant to join our Home Health and Hospice Nursing Teams in Mesa, AZ. You will support patients’ daily occupations, choose appropriate treatment approaches, and collaborate with OTs to adjust care plans while following agency policies.

We value strong communication, initiative, and reliable transportation as you help improve independence and quality of life for a vulnerable population.

Qualifications

• Graduate from a two-year college level program approved by the American Occupational Therapy Association.
• Current Licensed, registered or Certified in the state of practice.
• Minimum of 2 years related experience preferred.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate well with different types of personalities.
• Ability to exercise initiative and independent judgement.
• Effective verbal & written communication & time management skills.
• Valid Driver's License (clean record) & reliable transportation.
• Proof of current auto insurance & registration.
• Valid AZ Fingerprint Clearance Card (we can help)
• Current CPR Certification (we can help) & Negative TB Test (we can test)

Responsibilities

• Address patient's performance to support engagement in occupations that affect health, well-being, and life quality.
• Select appropriate occupational therapy treatment model, method, and approach to direct the process of interventions.
• Consults with OT regarding change in treatment.
• Understands and adheres to established Agency policies and procedures.
• Participates in in-service education.
• Assists in preparing clinical and progress notes.
• Improves or minimizes residual physical impairments of the patient.
• Teach patient's new ways of approaching tasks and educate them on how to break down activities into achievable components
• Performs services planned, delegated and supervised by the OT.
• Assess patient's home and other environments and advise on alterations consistent with their needs and capabilities
• Recommend adaptive equipment and train in its use
• Guide and educate family members and caregivers
