Responsibilities

A Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) plays a vital role in rehabilitating and caring for patients with various physical, mental, or emotional conditions. The main goal of a COTA is to assist individuals in developing, recovering, improving, and maintaining skills necessary for daily living and working. Key responsibilities include:

1. Patient Care Execution: Under the supervision of an occupational therapist, a COTA implements therapeutic plans, teaches patients to use adaptive equipment, guides exercises, and engages patients in activities essential for their recovery.
2. Activity and Program Planning: COTAs contribute to planning and selecting therapeutic activities tailored to each patient's needs and interests, aligning with the goals set by occupational therapists.
3. Progress Monitoring: They regularly observe, document, and report patient progress, adjusting interventions as needed to ensure continuous improvement.
4. Patient and Family Education: Educating patients and families about therapy processes, adaptive equipment, and home modifications to promote ongoing recovery and independence.

Qualifications
