Summary

Administers and conducts Occupational Therapy (OT) programs to restore function, prevent disability, and help patients achieve maximum independence. Contributes to the care plan in collaboration with the OTR, patient, and family to optimize functional outcomes. Facilitates participation in daily activities, improving quality of life through prescribed exercises, hands-on care, and patient education. Changes lives by helping patients regain independence.


Job Duties

  • Reviews and implements established OT plans of care to restore function, prevent disability, and help patients reach their maximum performance levels.

  • Implements individualized treatment plans using evidence-based techniques such as therapeutic exercises, manual techniques, mobility training, ADL training, splinting/DME, and modalities.

  • Provides OT treatment tailored to patient needs.

  • Communicates patient progress and limitations to supervisors, physicians, and team members.

  • Adapts OT plans based on age-specific and population-specific needs, utilizing a developmental and family-centered approach.

  • Delivers cost-effective care following departmental billing guidelines.

  • Completes and submits all required documentation per policies, standards, and regulations.


Minimum Qualifications

  • Associate's Degree in Occupational Therapy.
  • Less than 1 year of clinical experience as required by the educational program.
  • Knowledge of patient rights and laws such as HIPAA.
  • Knowledge of occupational therapy techniques.
  • Ability to provide safe, compassionate, and competent OT treatments.
  • Effective communication skills with patients, families, and colleagues.
  • Thorough knowledge of safety standards and regulations.
  • American Heart Association BLS certification upon hire.
  • State of Pennsylvania COTA certification upon hire.


Physical Demands

Lift and carry 40-50 lbs, including pushing/pulling patients, lateral transfers, and patient transport. Frequent standing/walking, with potential activities such as kneeling, bending, and CPR. Specific activities depend on the role.
