Under the supervision of a registered occupational therapist, the Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant is responsible for assisting patients in their physical, mental, and emotional rehabilitation. This role involves facilitating patients' adaptation to disabilities using professional skills. The Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant provides quality occupational therapy services with various media. The position requires creativity, adaptability, and the ability to exercise independent judgment in duties.
Must be able to sit for up to thirty minutes, tolerate standing for thirty to forty-five minutes consecutively, and walk on level surfaces, stairs, carpeted surfaces, and ramps for up to thirty minutes consecutively. Ability to lift/move patients up to 200 lbs., push/pull patients weighing up to 200 lbs. Must occasionally stoop, bend, crouch, kneel, and reach above shoulder level. Capable of tactile sensation for feeling muscle spasms, textures, and skin temperature. Ability to hear normal conversation and call bells. Capable of seeing general vision, depth perception, and peripheral vision.
Two-year associate degree from an accredited occupational therapy assistant program, Pennsylvania license, and certification through AOTCB.
One-year clinical experience preferred. Current certification in CPR required.
