Summary

Administers programs of Occupational Therapy (OT) and conducts OT programs to restore function, prevent disability, and help patients reach their maximum level of independence. Contributes to appropriate care plans in collaboration with OTRs, patients, and families to assist in achieving maximum function. Facilitates participation in daily living activities, improves quality of life through prescribed exercises, hands-on care, and patient education, helping individuals gain or regain independence.

Job Duties
  • Reviews and implements established OT plans of care to restore function, prevent disability, and help patients reach their maximum performance level.
  • Uses evidence-based therapy techniques such as therapeutic exercises, manual techniques, functional mobility training, activities of daily living training, splinting/DME, and modalities to provide treatment.
  • Provides OT treatment tailored to patient needs based on assessments.
  • Communicates patient progress and limitations to supervisors, physicians, and team members.
  • Implements individualized treatment plans based on age-specific and population-specific needs, utilizing a developmental and family-centered approach.
  • Provides cost-effective care following departmental billing guidelines.
  • Completes and submits all required documentation per policies, standards, and regulations.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Associate's Degree in Occupational Therapy
  • Less than 1 year of clinical experience, completed as part of educational requirements
  • Knowledge of patient rights and laws such as HIPAA
  • Knowledge of occupational therapy techniques
  • Ability to provide safe, compassionate, and competent OT treatments
  • Effective communication skills with patients, families, and colleagues
  • Understanding of safety standards and regulations
  • American Heart Association Basic Life Support certification – State of Pennsylvania (upon hire)
  • Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) – State of Pennsylvania (upon hire)
Physical Demands

Lift and carry 40–50 lbs. Examples include pushing/pulling patients on beds or stretchers, lateral transfers up to 50 lbs. of patient weight. Frequent standing/walking; may involve kneeling, bending, squatting, and performing CPR.
