Job summary

River's Edge is seeking a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) to support residents with individualized OT programs under the supervision of a Registered Occupational Therapist. The role offers full-time, part-time, and per diem flexible hours with competitive hourly rates.

The ideal candidate is a graduate of an accredited OTA program, licensed or eligible for licensure, and possesses strong organizational and communication skills to work with residents, families, and the rehab team.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant Program certified by the AOTA. Eligible for certification by NBCOT.
• Licensed and/or eligible for licensure, as required by the state.

Responsibilities

• Implements resident’s individualized treatment plan as defined by the supervising OT.
• Provides OT treatments including activities of daily living and range of motion exercises.
• Performs activities of daily living evaluations under OT direction.
• Organizes and facilitates treatment groups with OT input.
• Instructs residents and caregivers in OT skills under OT supervision.
• Collaborates with rehab team to develop resident-specific programs.
• Maintains documentation for all residents treated in a timely manner.
• Attends care and staffing meetings as a representative of occupational therapy.
• Cleans, maintains and reports equipment repairs as needed.
• Ensures residents receive high-quality service in a compassionate environment.

Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) POSITION SUMMARY:

The Occupational Therapy Assistant implements occupational therapy programs and provides occupational therapy treatments to residents to facilitate increased independence and functioning under the supervision of a Registered Occupational Therapist.

Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) RESPONSIBLITIES/ACCOUNTABILITIES:

1 Implements resident’s individualized treatment plan as defined by the primary Occupational Therapist;

2 Provides individualized occupational therapy treatments including activities of daily living and range of motion exercises;

3 Performs activities of daily living evaluations under the direction of the Occupational Therapist;

4 Organizes and facilitates treatment groups in consultation with the Occupational Therapist;

5 Instructs residents, families and other caregivers in the skills and techniques of the occupational therapy treatment program under the supervision of the Occupational Therapist;

6 Works with other members of the rehabilitation team to develop programs and activities consistent with the needs and capabilities of each resident;

7 Maintains appropriate and timely resident and non-resident documentation for all residents treated;

8 Attends and contributes to resident care, staffing and other required meetings as a representative of occupational therapy, under the direction of the Occupational Therapist;

9 Cleans, maintains, identifies and reports the need for repair of equipment, as necessary;

10 Ensures that residents and families receive the highest quality of service in a caring and compassionate atmosphere that recognizes the individuals’ needs and rights.

Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) SPECIFIC EDUCATIONAL/VOCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

1 Graduate of an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant Program certified by the American Occupational Therapy Association. He/she must be certified and/or eligible for certification by the American Occupational Therapy Certification Board.

2 Licensed and/or eligible for licensure, as required by the state.
