Job summary

River's Edge in Philadelphia is seeking a Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant (COTA) to implement occupational therapy programs and help residents increase independence under the supervision of an OT.

The role requires graduation from an accredited OTA program with licensure or eligibility, plus strong organizational and communication skills. We offer full time, part time, and per diem options in a supportive, team‑oriented environment.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited OTA program certified by the AOTA.
• Licensed and/or eligible for licensure as required by the state.
• Strong organizational and time management skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.

Responsibilities

• Implements resident’s individualized treatment plan as defined by the primary Occupational Therapist.
• Provides OT treatments including activities of daily living and ROM exercises.
• Performs ADL evaluations under the direction of the Occupational Therapist.
• Organizes and facilitates treatment groups with input from the Occupational Therapist.
• Instructs residents, families and caregivers in OT techniques under supervision.
• Collaborates with the rehab team to develop programs matching resident needs.
• Maintains resident documentation in a timely manner.
• Attends care and staff meetings as an OT representative.
• Cleans and reports equipment maintenance needs as required.
• Ensures high-quality, compassionate service to residents and families.

Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) POSITION SUMMARY:

The Occupational Therapy Assistant implements occupational therapy programs and provides occupational therapy treatments to residents to facilitate increased independence and functioning under the supervision of a Registered Occupational Therapist.

Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) RESPONSIBLITIES/ACCOUNTABILITIES:

1 Implements resident’s individualized treatment plan as defined by the primary Occupational Therapist;

2 Provides individualized occupational therapy treatments including activities of daily living and range of motion exercises;

3 Performs activities of daily living evaluations under the direction of the Occupational Therapist;

4 Organizes and facilitates treatment groups in consultation with the Occupational Therapist;

5 Instructs residents, families and other caregivers in the skills and techniques of the occupational therapy treatment program under the supervision of the Occupational Therapist;

6 Works with other members of the rehabilitation team to develop programs and activities consistent with the needs and capabilities of each resident;

7 Maintains appropriate and timely resident and non-resident documentation for all residents treated;

8 Attends and contributes to resident care, staffing and other required meetings as a representative of occupational therapy, under the direction of the Occupational Therapist;

9 Cleans, maintains, identifies and reports the need for repair of equipment, as necessary;

10 Ensures that residents and families receive the highest quality of service in a caring and compassionate atmosphere that recognizes the individuals’ needs and rights.

Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) SPECIFIC EDUCATIONAL/VOCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

1 Graduate of an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant Program certified by the American Occupational Therapy Association. He/she must be certified and/or eligible for certification by the American Occupational Therapy Certification Board.

2 Licensed and/or eligible for licensure, as required by the state.
