Sterling Therapy Providers is seeking a Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant (COTA) in Ohio to implement and supervise OT programs under a licensed OT. The role emphasizes ADLs, ROM, and group activities to promote residents’ independence.

Responsibilities

• Implements resident's individualized treatment plan as defined by the primary Occupational Therapist.
• Provides occupational therapy treatments including activities of daily living and ROM exercises.
• Performs activities of daily living evaluations under the direction of the Occupational Therapist.
• Organizes and facilitates treatment groups in consultation with the Occupational Therapist.
• Instructs residents, families and other caregivers in OT treatment techniques under supervision.
• Works with rehab team to develop resident-specific programs.
• Maintains resident treatment documentation in a timely manner.
• Attends resident care and staff meetings as an OT representative.
• Cleans, maintains, and reports equipment needs for repair.
• Ensures high quality of service in a caring atmosphere.

POSITION SUMMARY: The Occupational Therapy Assistant implements occupational therapy programs and provides occupational therapy treatments to residents to facilitate increased independence and functioning under the supervision of a Registered Occupational Therapist.

RESPONSIBLITIES/ACCOUNTABILITIES:

1. Implements resident's individualized treatment plan as defined by the primary Occupational Therapist;
2. Provides individualized occupational therapy treatments including activities of daily living and range of motion exercises;
3. Performs activities of daily living evaluations under the direction of the Occupational Therapist;
4. Organizes and facilitates treatment groups in consultation with the Occupational Therapist;
5. Instructs residents, families and other caregivers in the skills and techniques of the occupational therapy treatment program under the supervision of the Occupational Therapist;
6. Works with other members of the rehabilitation team to develop programs and activities consistent with the needs and capabilities of each resident;
7. Maintains appropriate and timely resident and non-resident documentation for all residents treated;
8. Attends and contributes to resident care, staffing and other required meetings as a representative of occupational therapy, under the direction of the Occupational Therapist;
9. Cleans, maintains, identifies and reports the need for repair of equipment, as necessary;
10. Ensures that residents and families receive the highest quality of service in a caring and compassionate atmosphere that recognizes the individuals’ needs and rights.

SPECIFIC EDUCATIONAL/VOCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

1. Graduate of an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant Program certified by the American Occupational Therapy Association. He/she must be certified and/or eligible for certification by the American Occupational Therapy Certification Board.
2. Licensed and/or eligible for licensure, as required by the state.
