Job summary

Sterling Therapy Providers in Franconia, NH is seeking a Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant (COTA) to support residents under the supervision of a Registered Occupational Therapist. The role focuses on implementing treatment plans, facilitating activities of daily living and ROM exercises, and collaborating with the rehab team to promote independence.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited OTA program certified by the AOTA and eligible for certification.
• Licensed in the state or eligible for licensure as required.

Responsibilities

• Implements resident’s individualized treatment plan under the supervision of the OT.
• Provides OT treatments including activities of daily living and ROM exercises.
• Performs ADL evaluations under the OT direction.
• Organizes and facilitates treatment groups with the OT.
• Instructs residents, families and caregivers in OT skills under the OT supervision.
• Works with the rehab team to develop programs matching residents’ needs.
• Maintains resident and non-resident documentation for all residents treated.
• Attends and contributes to resident care and staffing meetings as OT representative.
• Cleans, maintains, and reports repairs for equipment as needed.
• Ensures residents and families receive high-quality service in a compassionate atmosphere.

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Occupational Therapy Assistant implements occupational therapy programs and provides occupational therapy treatments to residents to facilitate increased independence and functioning under the supervision of a Registered Occupational Therapist.

RESPONSIBLITIES/ACCOUNTABILITIES:

1. Implements resident’s individualized treatment plan as defined by the primary Occupational Therapist;
2. Provides individualized occupational therapy treatments including activities of daily living and range of motion exercises;
3. Performs activities of daily living evaluations under the direction of the Occupational Therapist;
4. Organizes and facilitates treatment groups in consultation with the Occupational Therapist;
5. Instructs residents, families and other caregivers in the skills and techniques of the occupational therapy treatment program under the supervision of the Occupational Therapist;
6. Works with other members of the rehabilitation team to develop programs and activities consistent with the needs and capabilities of each resident;
7. Maintains appropriate and timely resident and non-resident documentation for all residents treated;
8. Attends and contributes to resident care, staffing and other required meetings as a representative of occupational therapy, under the direction of the Occupational Therapist;
9. Cleans, maintains, identifies and reports the need for repair of equipment, as necessary;
10. Ensures that residents and families receive the highest quality of service in a caring and compassionate atmosphere that recognizes the individuals’ needs and rights.

SPECIFIC EDUCATIONAL/VOCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

1. Graduate of an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant Program certified by the American Occupational Therapy Association. He/she must be certified and/or eligible for certification by the American Occupational Therapy Certification Board.
2. Licensed and/or eligible for licensure, as required by the state.
