Certified Nursing Assistant - Progressive Care Unit

Schedule: 7:00am - 7:00pm EOW/EOH

Primary Function

Responsible for performing various patient care activities and related non-professional services to care for the personal needs and comfort of patients. Work under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse and observe all hospital policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

1. Provide general patient care and perform routine treatments and procedures as directed by the Registered Nurse.
2. Assist with personal hygiene to promote patient comfort and well-being.
3. Check and record intake and output as ordered.
4. Take and record patient vital signs and other measurements as indicated.
5. Assist with enemas, dressings, specimen collection, and application of heat or cold devices.
6. Assist the RN in caring for seriously ill patients or in complex treatments or procedures.
7. Maintain a safe, clean environment with well-stocked supplies and functioning equipment.
8. Maintain accurate and complete patient medical records.
9. Observe patients and report any changes or issues to the RN/Team Leader.
10. Attend seminars and in-services to stay current in the field.
11. Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Requirements

Vocational/Technical training and more than six months of related experience or equivalent. RI State Nursing Assistant license is also required.
