Schedule: 6 South. Med/Telemetry Floor. Per Diem and holiday requirements.
The Certified Nursing Assistant, or Patient Care Assistant (PCA), functions as a member of the patient care team, under the direction of the Registered Nurse (RN), and proficiently and consistently performs all aspects of the PCA role. Responsible for supporting the RN with clinical tasks, including but not limited to blood glucose monitoring, completing EKGs, applying simple dressings, using aseptic technique, and responding to medical emergency situations utilizing Heartsaver CPR and AED skills. The PCA also responds to the needs of patients and family members and takes an active role in the efficient operation of the unit. Ensures the practice of the Patient and Family Centered Care Model in an environment that exemplifies best practices.
BWFH 6 South is a 37-bed fast-paced medicine/telemetry teaching unit supporting medical education and training for current and future physicians. The unit cares for a diverse adult population with acute and chronic conditions such as asthma, COPD, renal disease, DKA, DVT, flu, HTN, PE, pneumonia, sepsis, and UTI, among others. It is equipped with telemetry, Vocera, Epic, and virtual patient observation systems.
