Job summary

Boston Medical Center- South is seeking a part-time nursing assistant to provide direct patient care and support for adult geriatric psychiatric patients. You will assist with personal needs, maintain privacy, and collaborate with the care team in a respectful environment.

The role requires a MA CNA license or enrollment with Fundamentals of Nursing I & II, current BLS, and the ability to communicate clearly in English.

Qualifications

• Education: High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Experience: Minimum 1 year as a nursing assistant or be a nursing student with Fundamentals of Nursing I & II completed.
• Certification/Licensure: MA CNA license or enrollment; current BLS; de-escalation training within 30 days.
• Medical terminology knowledge required; English communication with staff and patients.
• Must prioritize multiple requests and provide compassionate patient care.
• Adult geriatric psychiatric experience preferred.

Position Summary:

Under the direct supervision of the Registered Nurse assigned, performs a variety of direct patient care activities in caring for the personal needs and comforts of the patient.

Provides care that addresses the specific needs of adult geriatric psychiatric patients as well as accommodating a variety of needs specific to impairments such as hearing, sight, substance abuse, language barriers, and potential victims of abuse. Incorporates knowledge and understanding of our commitment to patient rights, exceptional care, and the hospital's values and mission into his/her performance of job duties. Maintains patient privacy and confidentiality at all times.

Required Knowledge & Skills:

• Education: High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Experience: Must possess a minimum of 1 year experience as a nursing assistant or be a matriculating student in a nursing program and have completed the "Fundamentals of Nursing I & II."
• Certification/Licensure:
  • Must possess a valid Massachusetts Certified Nursing Assistant license or show proof of enrollment in accredited nursing school and completion of the courses "Fundamentals of Nursing I & II."
  • Current BLS certification required.
  • Mandatory De-escalation Education within 30 days of hire.
• Software/Hardware: Computer experience is preferred.
• Knowledge of medical terminology is required.
• Ability to communicate effectively in English with staff and patients is required.
• Must be able to prioritize multiple requests to ensure timeliness and provide exceptional patient care.
• Must possess the skills to be compassionate, empathetic and responsive to the needs of a variety of patients.
• Adult geriatric psychiatric experience preferred.

Compensation Range:

$18.15- $26.97

This range offers an estimate based on the minimum job qualifications. However, our approach to determining base pay is comprehensive, and a broad range of factors is considered when making an offer.
