Job summary

Boston Medical Center is seeking a compassionate Nursing Assistant for the South campus. You will assist with direct patient care in an adult geriatric psychiatric setting, under RN supervision, addressing personal needs and comfort while protecting privacy and dignity.

The schedule is part-time, 32 hours per week, evenings with every other weekend; required licensure or enrollment in nursing program, BLS, de-escalation training, and basic computer skills are expected.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Must have 1 year nursing assistant experience or be a nursing student with Fundamentals of Nursing I & II completed.
  • Massachusetts CNA license or enrollment in nursing school with Fundamentals of Nursing I & II.
  • Current BLS certification required.
  • Mandatory de-escalation education within 30 days of hire.
  • Proficient with basic computer use and medical terminology.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English with staff and patients.

Position Summary

Under the direct supervision of the Registered Nurse assigned, performs a variety of direct patient care activities in caring for the personal needs and comforts of the patient.

Provides care that addresses the specific needs of adult geriatric psychiatricpatientsas well as accommodating a variety of needs specific to impairments such as hearing, sight, substance abuse, language barriers, and potential victims of abuse. Incorporates knowledge and understanding of our commitment to patient rights, exceptional care, and the hospital's values and mission into his/her performance of job duties. Maintains patient privacy and confidentiality at all times.

Required Knowledge & Skills
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Experience:Must possess a minimum of 1 year experience as a nursing assistant or be a matriculating student in a nursing program and have completed the "Fundamentals of Nursing I & II."
  • Certification/Licensure:
    • Must possess a valid Massachusetts Certified Nursing Assistant license or show proof of enrollment in accredited nursing school and completion of the courses "Fundamentals of Nursing I & II."
    • Current BLS certification required.
    • Mandatory De-escalation Education within 30 days of hire.
  • Software/Hardware: Computer experience is preferred.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology is required.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English with staff and patients is required.
  • Must be able to prioritize multiple requests to ensure timeliness and provide exceptional patient care.
  • Must possess the skills to be compassionate, empathetic and responsive to the needs of a variety of patients.
  • Adult geriatric psychiatric experience preferred.
Compensation Range

$18.15- $26.97

This range offers an estimate based on the minimum job qualifications. However, our approach to determining base pay is comprehensive, and a broad range of factors is considered when making an offer. This includes education, experience, and licensure/certifications directly related to position requirements.
