Overview
West Pines Behavioral Hospital is a new 144-bed inpatient behavioral health facility serving Denver area residents, located at 11455 Huron Street, Westminster, CO. A joint venture between Intermountain Health and Acadia Healthcare, it opened in December 2024 and provides comprehensive inpatient and intensive outpatient services to meet the growing need for accessible, high-quality behavioral health care in the Denver metro area.
Our Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs) provide medical or therapeutic care under the direction of nursing or clinical staff. This position is for a full-time Day shift.

Responsibilities
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Ensure the well-being of patients and provide a positive, supportive, and structured environment under the direction of the charge nurse or supervisor.
- Address patient safety through regular observation rounds, which may be every 15 minutes, within reach of the patient, and/or 1:1 patient care.
- Ensure patient rooms are clean and uncluttered.
- Assist with transferring, lifting, raising, or turning patients.
- Obtain patient’s vital signs, height, and weight as assigned, and ensure accurate documentation.
- Identify yourself to patients and visitors promptly and respond quickly to patient requests.
- Engage with patients in activities and interactions designed to encourage achievement of treatment goals.
- Respond to distressed patients in a non-threatening manner, understanding the source of distress.
- Apply de-escalation techniques to manage patient emotions and behavior; assist with seclusion and restraints when necessary.
- Monitor behavioral improvements, reinforce positive behaviors, and report changes and responses to treatment to the team, with significant changes reported immediately to the nurse.
- Reinforce skills learned from nurses, physicians, and therapists that promote physical and mental wellness.
- Ensure patient comfort, dignity, and privacy; perform CNA duties such as feeding, bathing, dressing, grooming, moving patients, or changing linens.
- Provide transfer or transportation for patients or coordinate transportation with appropriate staff.
- Adhere to work schedule and maintain overall attendance.
- Follow established policies, procedures, and standards for patient care.
- Clean units and equipment, including beds, IV poles, and wheelchairs, as assigned.
- Document clinical information accurately and timely in patient records.
- Collaborate with staff to treat and rehabilitate the patient population.
- Maintain a positive, empathetic, and professional attitude towards patients and colleagues; address and resolve patient complaints; prioritize patient safety.
- Communicate clearly and effectively with patients, family members, visitors, and the healthcare team.
OTHER FUNCTIONS:
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/SKILL REQUIREMENTS:
- High School diploma or equivalent required.
- Additional education or training resulting in CNA certification per state requirements is required.
- Previous experience in a behavioral health setting and working with this patient population is preferred.
LICENSES/DESIGNATIONS/CERTIFICATIONS:
- Current CNA certification or license, per state requirements.
- CPR and de-escalation/restraint certification required (training available upon hire and provided by the facility).
- First aid may be required based on state or facility policies.
