Position Summary

Under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse, the Certified Nursing Assistant provides personal hygiene care for patients of Arkansas Hospice and maintains a safe, orderly environment within the guidelines of the interdisciplinary team plan of care.

Qualifications

• Education: High school diploma or GED; completion of a CNA training and competency evaluation program per Arkansas Department of Health guidelines.
• Experience: Prior experience in direct patient care preferred (hospital, long-term care, hospice).
• Licensure: Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA).
• Additional Requirements: Eligibility for a Letter of Determination, successful skills evaluation, valid Arkansas driver’s license, car insurance, and vehicle (Home Care).

Primary Responsibilities

• Perform procedures respecting patient dignity, comfort, and privacy, including bathing, grooming, oral care, toileting, positioning, transfer, feeding, and assistance with treatments.
• Conduct rounds every two hours, document care, and alert the care team of changes.
• Maintain a clean, safe environment, follow infection control procedures, and ensure patient safety with proper equipment use.
• Communicate effectively with patients, families, and team members; establish trusting relationships.
• Observe, report, and document patient status, vital signs, and services provided.
• Adhere to organizational policies, participate in ongoing education, and perform other duties as assigned.
