Position Summary

Under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse, the Certified Nursing Assistant provides personal hygiene care for patients of Arkansas Hospice and maintains a safe, orderly environment within the guidelines of the interdisciplinary team plan of care.

Qualifications
  • Education: High school diploma or GED; satisfactory completion of a CNA training and competency evaluation program complying with Arkansas Department of Health guidelines.
  • Experience: Previous experience in direct patient care preferred (hospital, long-term care, hospice).
  • Licensure: Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA)
  • Additional Requirements: Eligibility for a Letter of Determination, successful skills evaluation, valid Arkansas driver’s license, car insurance, and personal vehicle (Home Care).
Primary Responsibilities
  • Perform procedures respecting patient dignity, comfort, and privacy, including bathing, grooming, oral care, toileting, positioning, transfers, feeding, and assisting with treatments.
  • Conduct rounds every two hours, document care, and alert the care team of any changes.
  • Maintain a clean, safe environment, observe and report patient status, and follow infection control procedures.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and team members, and establish trusting relationships.
  • Use equipment properly, maintain confidentiality, and adhere to policies and procedures.
  • Participate in ongoing education, meet attendance and punctuality standards, and perform other duties as assigned.
Competencies, Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
  • Knowledge of hospice philosophy and principles of care.
  • Skills in organizing, prioritizing, observation, communication, and documentation.
  • Ability to establish effective relationships, work in a team, and demonstrate tact, patience, and confidentiality.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and accept supervision.
