Job Summary: The Clinical Nursing Assistant is responsible for coordinating and delivering patient care utilizing the nursing process under the supervision of a Registered Nurse in a hospital setting.
Responsibilities and Scope
- Assist physicians and healthcare providers with examinations, procedures, and procurement of equipment and supplies during emergencies.
- Observe, collect, and document patient information, reporting significant changes promptly to a nurse or physician.
- Assist patients and families during admission, orientation, and discharge processes.
- Provide care/treatments as outlined in the plan of care, including monitoring vital signs, measuring height and weight, specimen collection, skin preps, catheter care, blood glucose checks, wound care, range-of-motion exercises, drain care, and assisting with activities of daily living (ADL).
- Maintain an effective clinical environment by cleaning, changing linens, monitoring supplies, and transporting patients/specimens.
- Complete annual competency assessments and adhere to policies and procedures.
Qualifications
- Must have nursing assistant certification, such as Nurse Aide I registration from the North Carolina Board of Nursing (NCBON) or equivalent.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
