External Job Description

• Assist nurses with basic care activities to meet patients' personal needs and comfort
• Dresses, grooms, bathes, feeds, and records vital signs of patients
• Responds to call lights, assists with toileting, oral care, nail care, catheter care, mobility, and reports patient changes
• Requires certification as a Nurse Assistant; functions must adhere to Standards of Practice
• Provide simple or uncomplicated patient care and maintain a clean environment
• Take and record temperature, pulse, and respiration; administer medication as directed
• Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old
• Valid driver's license with a satisfactory driving record
• Certification as a CNA or Home Health Care Aide as required by state
• Completion of a recognized home care aide training program or 6 months recent experience
• Ability to lift up to 75 lbs., sit, stand, walk, and perform physical tasks
