Job summary

Midwest Health in Wichita, KS seeks a Certified Medication Aide to assist with administering medications as ordered by the attending physician, under supervision. The role requires adherence to established nursing standards and community policies to ensure resident safety and confidentiality.

Responsibilities include maintaining a clean medication area, accurately preparing and documenting medications, reporting any issues promptly, and supporting daily living activities for residents.

Qualifications

• Must hold a valid CMA certification in good standing with the state.
• Ability to read, write, and understand English.
• Must be able to work beyond normal hours when necessary.
• Adheres to nursing standards and Community policies.

Responsibilities

• Comply with the Community’s policies and procedures.
• Report abuse/neglect to leadership as required.
• Treat residents and staff with respect and dignity.
• Maintain confidentiality of resident information.
• Keep medication cart and room clean and organized.
• Properly label, store, and document medications.
• Complete medication charting per policy.
• Assist in documenting discontinued medications.
• Follow procedures for drug receipt errors and refills.
• Respect residents’ right to refuse medications.
• Verify resident identity before administering medications.
• Support self-administration by residents and document accordingly.
• Be familiar with medical abbreviations used in this role.
• Use PPE when exposure to blood or body fluids is possible.
• Report hazardous conditions and equipment promptly.
• Wash hands before and after duties.
• Assist with daily living activities and support CNAs.
