Job summary

Midwest Health is seeking a Certified Medication Aide to administer medications to residents under physician orders and supervisor oversight. You will follow nursing standards and community policies while maintaining resident safety, privacy, and dignity.

The role requires CMA certification, basic computer skills, and the ability to work as part of a care team. You will support daily activities and ensure accurate medication documentation in a structured facility setting.

Qualifications

  • Must have a valid CMA certification in good standing with the state.
  • Must be able to read, write, and understand English.
  • Basic computer skills required.

Responsibilities

  • Comply with the Community’s personnel, safety, and corporate policies and procedures.
  • Comply with the nursing department’s policies and procedures.
  • Report witnessed or reported allegations of resident abuse/neglect immediately to the Executive Director, RCC/Nurse Supervisor/Charge Nurse.
  • Treat residents, family members, visitors, and team members with respect and dignity.
  • Maintain the confidentiality of all resident and family information.
  • Report to work on time and as scheduled.
  • Report any complaints/grievances made by residents to the RCC/Nurse Supervisor/Charge Nurse or per policy.
  • Maintain a clean and organized medication cart and medication room.
  • Always protect resident privacy when administering medication, knock before entering the resident’s room.
  • Accurately and safely prepare, administer, and document medications as ordered by the physician or Medical Director.
  • Ensure medications are properly labeled and follow storage and dating policies.
  • Complete medication charting per Community policy.
  • Assist in destroying medications and removing discontinued meds.
  • Follow procedures for drug receipt errors and resident refills.
  • Honor resident rights to refuse medications.
  • Observe and verify medication ingestion or application and document refusals.
  • Notify RCC/Nurse Supervisor/Charge Nurse of refusals or reactions.
  • Administer only with a signed physician order.
  • Verify resident identity before treatment.
  • Support self-administration and document medication refills.
  • Familiar with medical abbreviations and safety procedures.
  • Use PPE for exposures to blood or body fluids.
  • Report hazardous conditions to supervisors.
  • Follow safety precautions and wash hands.
  • Report occupational exposures as required.
  • Assist residents in daily activities and support CNAs when needed.
