Job summary

Good Samaritan’s Canistota facility in Canistota, SD is seeking a Medication Assistant (MA) to provide resident-centered care under supervision. The role includes daily living assistance, basic health care tasks, and medication administration as delegated by a licensed nurse.

Qualified candidates will have CMA/CNA certification per state requirements, prior long-term care experience, and a commitment to quality care in a not-for-profit setting.

Qualifications

High school graduate or GED preferred, but not required
Minimum age 18; prior clinical or nursing assistant experience in long-term care preferred
Annual continuing education: 12 hours required; maintain certifications as required by state

Responsibilities

Provide resident-centered nursing care and daily living assistance under charge nurse supervision
Administer prescribed medications as delegated by a licensed nurse
Document care, outcomes, and any changes to plan of care; communicate with charge nurse
Assist with transfers, range of motion, and activities of daily living; support dining and nutrition
Assist with housekeeping and laundry to maintain clean living areas
