Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• High school diploma or GED required.
• Completion of Michigan Board of Nursing approved Medication Aide training program.
• Current Michigan Certified/State Tested Nurse Assistant certification.
• Must possess a state-certified medication aide certification in the state of Michigan.
• Current CPR certification or CPR certification within 90 days of employment.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and administer medications and treatments as ordered by the physician and in accordance with state/federal regulations.
• Verify the identity of residents before administering medications.
• Review medication records for accuracy and compliance with orders.
• Follow medication administration rights and infection prevention standards.
• Document medication administration and refusals in the clinical record.
• Monitor residents for adverse effects and report concerns to the RN supervisor.
• Ensure proper storage, handling, and disposal of medications in regulatory compliance.
• Communicate shifts and hand off nursing reports as required.
• Notify RN supervisor of any changes in resident condition.
• Review treatment plans and vital signs as needed.
