Job summary

Embassy of Rockport is seeking a Medication Aide/Nurse Assistant to assist licensed nursing staff with administering daily medications and observing patient responses in a long-term care environment. Position requires a High School diploma or equivalent, CNA certification, medication aide certification, and CPR.

Responsibilities include medication administration under supervision, reporting adverse reactions, and maintaining accurate records.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Certified Nursing Assistant certification is required.
• Medication aide certification is required.
• Current CPR certification is required.

Responsibilities

• Delivers routine daily oral, inhalation and topical medications to residents under direct supervision of a licensed nurse.
• Observes for adverse drug reactions and reports problems to the nurse.
• Records medication administration according to company policies and procedures.
• Follows written or verbal instructions on how to manage medications.
• Observes residents for changes and documents changes in their condition accordingly.
• Performs tasks associated with medication administration, including vital signs, dose calculations, stocking of carts, and removal of discontinued medications.
• Practices safe handling and storage of medications.
• Ensures department personnel, residents, and visitors follow policies and procedures.
• Maintains warmth and positive atmosphere across the unit.
• Reviews complaints and reports to Nurse Supervisor as required.
• Ensures fair disciplinary action and safety reporting as per policies.
• Reports occupational exposures per procedures.
• Checks dietary intake policies and ensures care plans are followed.
• Participates in infection control programs and safety drills.
• Maintains clean and sanitary work areas and resident rooms.
• Knows and follows child-wide and facility policies.
