Purpose of Your Job Position

The primary purpose of your role is to assist in administering medications to residents as ordered by the attending physician, under the supervision of the nurse supervisor or charge nurse, and the Director of Nursing Services. All medication administration must adhere to established nursing standards, facility policies, and state requirements.

Education

Must possess, at minimum, a high school diploma or equivalent.

Experience

Must be a licensed Certified Medication Aide who has successfully completed a state-approved training program and any required examinations.

Job Functions
  • Follow the facility's policies and procedures regarding medication administration.
  • Note and report any medication errors.
  • Assist in developing procedures to identify and prevent medication errors.
  • Complete necessary documentation and reports.
  • Maintain professional relationships with staff, physicians, and pharmacists.
  • Report resident complaints or grievances.
  • Participate in facility inspections and surveys.
  • Maintain confidentiality of resident and facility information, reporting any violations.
Specific Requirements
  • Proficient in reading, writing, speaking, and understanding English.
  • Knowledgeable about providing age-appropriate care.
  • Supportive team player with the ability to make independent decisions.
  • Ability to communicate tactfully with residents, families, staff, and external agencies.
  • Patience, tact, and enthusiasm, especially when handling difficult residents.
  • Provide certification documentation upon application.
  • Pose no direct threat to workplace safety or health.
