Job Summary:
Employee certified to administer medications, in accordance with state and federal laws, under the supervision of licensed staff to residents within facilities. Provides direct care to residents to ensure quality of life in a home-like environment, supporting family and visitors. Maintains professional behavior as a member of the interdisciplinary team, meeting regulatory guidelines.
Supervision:
Administers medication under supervision of a licensed nurse. May supervise other staff or work independently in certain situations.
Critical Functions:
- Administers prescribed medications and maintains related medical records under supervision of a licensed nurse.
- Verifies resident identity, records medication details, observes ingestion or application, and reports reactions.
- Provides direct patient care, including bathing, dressing, feeding, and assisting with treatments.
- Receives and prepares medication supplies for administration.
Experience:
- High school diploma or minimum age of 18 years.
- Completion of Certified Medication Technician or Med Level One course and certification.
- Effective communication skills with residents, co-workers, visitors, and families.
- Adherence to HIPAA confidentiality regulations.
- Accuracy in observation, reporting, and performance.

- Medication preparation, administration, and documentation.
- Providing physical and emotional resident care.

- Supporting co-workers and reporting incidents.
- Resident admission, discharge, and transfer documentation.
- Ability to work independently or with peers, for full shifts, and provide first aid if needed.
- Meeting CNA and medication technician requirements, including valid driver’s license if applicable.
