Job summary

Advanced Pain Care is hiring a certified medical coder in Texas. The ideal candidate codes from final visit and procedure notes, assigns CPT/ICD-9/ICD-10 codes, and submits claims electronically or on paper.

The role requires CPC certification, EMR experience, and strong HIPAA compliance. The coder will reconcile charges, review documentation for accuracy, and communicate with providers to obtain necessary records.

Qualifications

• Must have CPC certification and a high school diploma or GED.
• Prior medical coding experience with CPT, ICD-9, ICD-10.
• Experience with EMR systems and accurate data entry.
• Strong knowledge of anatomy, physiology and medical terminology.
• Excellent written and verbal communication; 50+ wpm.
• HIPAA compliance and patient confidentiality.
• Ability to sit/stand for long periods and lift up to 30 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Code from final office visits and surgical reports.
• Review records and assign primary/secondary diagnoses per coding conventions.
• Submit claims electronically or on paper.
• Enter patient copayment info into the EMR.
• Reconcile charges with the schedule; identify and correct discrepancies.
• Investigate denials and rebill as needed.
• Maintain confidentiality and comply with HIPAA; follow policies.
