Job summary

Emerus Holdings, Inc. is seeking a skilled Medical Coder to review medical records and assign ICD-10-CM and CPT-4/HCPCS codes for Emergency Facilities, Inpatient, Observation and Ancillary services in Houston, TX. Must know HIPAA, anatomy, and medical terminology.

3+ years of coding experience; CPC/CPC-H/CIC/CCS or RHIA/RHIT preferred. Proficiency with EPIC, Cerner or PICIS EMR and Stockell InsightCS, and with MS Office.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• 3+ years experience coding using ICD-10-CM, HCPCS and CPT codes.
• CPC, CPC-H, CIC, COS or CCS, or RHIA/RHIT certification preferred; or RHIA/RHIT with 3+ years experience.
• Experience coding emergency or hospital ancillary services is preferred.
• HIPAA guidelines and regulations knowledge is required.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, Outlook) is required.

Responsibilities

• Review clinical documentation to extract data and apply ICD-10-CM and CPT-4 codes including IV infusion and injection codes.
• Review docs to extract data and apply HCPCS and facility level Evaluation & Management codes for billing.
• Abstract and code diagnoses and procedures from health records using appropriate classification systems.
