Qualifications

• Must be certified Medical Assistant or must complete a medical assistant training program or have two years experience as a Medical Assistant at hire.
• Must obtain Medical Assistant certification within 18 months of hire.
• AHA BLS Provider CPR required at hire.
• Proficiency in basic clinical skills (phlebotomy, BP, EKG, injections).
• Knowledge of infection control, environmental safety and patient confidentiality policies.
• Minimum of 2 years’ prior clinical support experience preferred.
• Electronic Medical Records experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Greets and escorts patients to exam rooms in a timely, courteous manner.
• Reviews patient charts to ensure reports are available; retrieves reports as needed.
• Obtains and documents patient chief complaint and vitals.
• Ensures exam room is prepared for the encounter.
• Documents all activities and patient information in the medical record.
• Assists providers with exams, procedures, and treatments.
• Draws blood and prepares specimens for labs; routes to in-house labs.
• Communicates provider instructions to patients within scope of training.
• Schedules future appointments, surgeries, and diagnostic tests.
• Adheres to infection control and confidentiality policies.
