Job summary

Centra Health seeks a Certified Medical Assistant to join the Centra Medical Group Resources Pool, serving multiple medical practice locations across central and southern Virginia. The MA will support providers, perform clerical duties when needed, and ensure high-quality patient care in a team environment.

Qualifications

• Education: High School Diploma or GED; graduation from ABHES/CAAHEP accredited Medical Assistant program or CVCC CMA program.
• Experience: Minimum 3 years as a medical assistant in an office setting.
• Certification & Licensure: Current CMA certification or registration (AAMA or equivalent); BLS within 6 months; valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Assist in examination and treatment under provider direction; measure vitals and obtain health histories.
• Provide compassionate environment and emotional support to patients and families.
• Offer health promotion, counseling and education to patients and caregivers; assess care requirements.
• Administer medications, wound care, and other interventions as directed by a provider.
• Maintain accurate patient records in EMR; ensure compliance with HIPAA and CMG policies.
• Support CMG clinical sites (primary, urgent, specialty) and maintain lab equipment sterility.
• Perform other duties as assigned or updated by management.

Education

Clinical Medical Assistants Program (CVCC) qualification to sit for CMA exam
