Job summary

University of Florida Jacksonville Physicians, Inc. is seeking a professional Medical Assistant to support both administrative and clinical duties under the supervision of a licensed physician.

Responsibilities include vital signs, documentation, medication administration, specimen collection and coordinating patient care. The ideal candidate has CMA certification (or within 6 months), BLS at hire, and familiarity with EMR systems.

Qualifications

• Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) required or within 6 months
• Basic Life Support (BLS) required at time of hire
• Medical Terminology Certificate preferred at time of hire
• Completion of an accredited MA program as required by the board

Responsibilities

• Take patients' vital signs and prepare them for the provider's care.
• Document all entries in the medical record, electronic or hard copy, with signature, date and time.
• Administer medications as directed by a licensed physician under supervision.
• Observe and report patient signs or symptoms; collect routine lab specimens as directed.
• Administer basic first aid.
• Participate in performance improvement projects.
• Act as a care team member in coordinating patient care.
• Provide excellent customer service to patients, staff and other customers
