Job summary

Geisinger is seeking a Medical Assistant to provide direct patient care and clinical support in the outpatient setting. The role works under the direction of the provider, prepares patients, collects information, performs technical duties, documents in the EMR, and supports a safe patient environment.

The ideal candidate has CMA or RMA certification, graduation from an MA program, and may assist with lab duties, phlebotomy, and administrative tasks such as scheduling and billing inquiries.

Qualifications

• Graduate from an accredited MA program (1-year certificate or 2-year diploma) preferred.
• Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) required.
• Certified by NHA, AMT, AAMA, NAHP, NCCT, AAH, or AMCA.

Responsibilities

• Obtain and document vitals and reason for visit using the EMR rooming tool.
• Set up examination and treatment rooms between cases.
• Assist patient to prepare for visit and ensure safety/privacy.
• Perform EKGs, wound care, and assist with minor procedures.
• Prepare and administer medications per policy; no IV meds.
• Collect and prepare lab specimens; phlebotomy as needed.
• Handle receptionist/clerical duties and manage referrals.
• Document in medical records and support scheduling and billing inquiries.
