Job summary

Ochsner LSU Health is seeking a Medical Assistant to provide individualized patient care under supervision. You will assist in delivering medical services, document electronic records, and communicate effectively with patients and staff to ensure smooth visits.

The role requires a high school diploma, Medical Assistant Certification, and BLS. Preference is given to those with formal medical assistant training and experience handling confidential information in a fast-paced setting.

Qualifications

• Required – High school diploma.
• Required – Medical Assistant Certification.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) from American Heart Association.
• Preferred – completion of a formal medical assistant training program.
• Experience handling confidential information and working in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Supports the patient and provider throughout the patient visit.
• Ensures the patient and provider are prepared for the visit.
• Answers the patient’s questions prior to leaving and prepares room for next appointment.
• Provides excellent patient service through effective communication by phone and in person.
• Completes documentation including patient registration when necessary.
• Maintains clinical knowledge, skills, training and credentials through ongoing development.
• Adapts communication style to the patient population and privacy requirements.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
