University of Florida Jacksonville Physicians, Inc. is seeking a Medical Assistant to support both clinical and administrative duties in a fast-paced department.

Under the direct supervision of a licensed physician and Office Manager or Team Lead, you will assist with patient check-in, vital signs, venipuncture, and routine procedures. The role emphasizes excellent patient service, accurate data entry and records management, scheduling, and coordinating care within the electronic medical record.

Qualifications

• 1 year Medical Assistant preferred.
• 2 years clerical/customer service experience – ideally in a health‑care related industry.
• 1 year experience with third‑party payors and computer experience for data entry and reviewing patient demographics (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Receives and directs messages to appropriate personnel and coordinates with other departments as necessary.
• Maintains patient scheduling functions and sets appointments.
• Interviews and completes patient registration.
• Records patient dispositions, diagnostic codes, charges, and payments in the EMR.
• Performs cashiering for co‑payments and other patient payments.
• Performs venipuncture and administers routine, non‑controlled medications under supervision.
• Collects routine laboratory specimens as directed by the provider.
• Performs basic laboratory procedures and vital sign collection.
• Provides excellent customer service for patients, families, and other members of the treatment team.
