Job Summary

The Medical Assistant (MA) is positioned within the healthcare team to gather, screen, communicate, and act based on delegation from a provider, registered nurse, or Licensed Practical Nurse, as per scope of practice. The MA performs a combination of clerical and direct patient care duties.

• Clerical responsibilities include greeting patients, answering phones, scheduling appointments, and updating patients' electronic medical records (EMR).
• Clinical responsibilities include rooming patients, taking medical histories, recording vital signs, preparing exam rooms for procedures, explaining treatment procedures to patients, preparing patients for examinations, facilitating patient flow, and assisting physicians or nurse practitioners during examinations.

Qualifications

Education Requirements:

• High School Diploma, GED, or graduate of a Medical Assistant Program.

Certification and Licensure:

• Current BLS Certification.
• Medical Assistant Certification from AAMA, AMT, NCCT, AMCA, NAHP, NHA, or other approved certifying bodies. Certifications outside this list require THMG Leadership approval.

Skills:

• Proficiency in computer use and navigation.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Strong clerical skills.
