Job Summary

• Medical Assistant (MA) is positioned within the workforce to gather, screen, communicate, and act based on delegation from a provider, registered nurse, or Licensed Practical Nurse, as per scope of practice.
• The MA performs a combination of clerical and direct patient care duties.
• Clerical responsibilities include greeting patients, answering telephones, scheduling appointments, and updating patients' electronic medical records (EMR).
• Clinical responsibilities include rooming patients, taking medical histories, recording vital signs, preparing exam rooms for procedures, explaining treatment procedures to patients, preparing patients for examinations, facilitating patient flow through the office, and assisting the Physician, Nurse Practitioner, or Physician Assistant during examinations.

Must be a Certified or Registered Medical Assistant

Education Requirements

• Completes and maintains all competencies and trainings required for the role.
• High School Diploma, GED, or graduation from a Medical Assistant Program.

Experience

• No experience required.

Certification and Licensure

• BLS Certification.
• Current Medical Assistant Certification awarded through the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA), American Medical Technologists (AMT), National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT), American Medical Certification Association (AMCA), National Association of Healthcare Professionals (NAHP), or the National Healthcare Association (NHA). Certifications other than those listed require THMG Leadership approval.
