Job summary

Ascension is hiring a Medical Assistant in Baltimore, MD to support providers with examinations, take vital signs, and document patient information. The role includes preparing treatment rooms, managing supplies, and handling clerical duties to ensure a smooth clinic flow.

Minimum requirements include a BLS certification within 30 days and a Medical Assistant credential; high school diploma or GED or 1 year of relevant experience is acceptable. The schedule is Monday–Friday, 8am–5pm.

Qualifications

• BLS Provider within 1 month of hire date; American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
• Medical Assistant credential required prior to hire; any issuing authority accepted.
• High School diploma or GED or 1 year of applicable experience accepted in lieu of education may apply.

Responsibilities

• Direct Patient Support: assist providers with examinations, measure vital signs, and execute orders under supervision.
• Clinical & Administrative Flow: prepare treatment rooms, keep a clean environment, and manage basic materials ordering/stocking.
• Accurate Documentation: interview patients for medical history, chart information, and transcribe orders for labs, radiology, and medications.
• Office Management: handle clerical duties, answer calls, and maintain organized patient records.

How you’ll make an impact in this role

• Direct Patient Support: Assist providers with patient examinations, measure vital signs, and execute ordered treatments and procedures under supervision.
• Clinical & Administrative Flow: Prepare treatment rooms, maintain a clean environment, and manage basic materials ordering and stocking to ensure operational efficiency.
• Accurate Documentation: Interview patients for medical history, accurately chart all information, and precisely transcribe provider orders for lab tests, radiology, and medications.
• Office Management: Handle critical clerical duties, including answering calls and maintaining organized patient records to support a seamless practice flow.

What Minimum Requirements You’ll Need

Licensure / Certification / Registration:

• BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
• Medical Assistant obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required. Any issuing authority is accepted.

Education

• High School diploma equivalency OR 1 year of applicable cumulative job specific experience required.
