Job summary

Ascension in Cedar Park, TX is seeking a Medical Assistant to support the Family Practice team. You will prepare exam rooms, take vital signs, interview patients, and document efficiently to ensure a smooth care journey for every patient.

You will also manage supplies to keep the clinic fully equipped. The ideal candidate holds a Medical Assistant credential and a BLS certification, with completion of required credentials within the specified timeframes.

Qualifications

• BLS Provider certification must be obtained within 30 days of hire.
• Medical Assistant credentialed from NHA/AMCA/NCCT/AAMA/AMT/AMCA must be obtained within 6 months of hire.
• High School diploma equivalency or 1 year of applicable job experience is required.

Responsibilities

• Lead the clinical flow by preparing exam rooms and prioritizing patient transitions.
• Capture patient stories by measuring vital signs and interviewing patients.
• Transcribe diagnoses, orders, and follow-up instructions into the patient record.

• Capture the patient’s story by accurately measuring vital signs and interviewing patients to ensure the care team has a clear, real-time clinical picture before every consultation.
• Master clinical documentation by transcribing diagnoses, orders, and follow-up instructions into the patient record, ensuring the accuracy of the care journey from start to finish.
• Optimize the care environment by managing essential supplies and materials, ensuring the team is always equipped to provide uninterrupted patient care.

What Minimum Requirements You’ll Need

Licensure / Certification / Registration

• BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
• One or more of the following required:
  • Medical Assistant credentialed from the National Healthcareer Association obtained within 6 Months (180 days) of hire date or job transfer date. American Medical Certification (AMCA) also accepted.
  • Medical Assistant credentialed from the National Association for Health Professionals obtained within 6 Months (180 days) of hire date or job transfer date. American Medical Certification (AMCA) also accepted.
  • Medical Assistant credentialed from the National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT) obtained within 6 Months (180 days) of hire date or job transfer date. American Medical Certification (AMCA) also accepted.
  • Medical Assistant credentialed from the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) obtained within 6 Months (180 days) of hire date or job transfer date. American Medical Certification (AMCA) also accepted.
  • Medical Assistant credentialed from the American Medical Technologists (AMT) obtained within 6 Months (180 days) of hire date or job transfer date. American Medical Certification (AMCA) also accepted.

Education

• High School diploma equivalency OR 1 year of applicable cumulative job specific experience required.
  • Note: Required professional licensure/certification can be used in lieu of education or experience, if applicable.
