Job summary

WellMed, part of the Optum family, seeks a Certified Medical Assistant to assist in patient care under physician supervision. Responsibilities include preparing exam rooms, assisting with procedures, and documenting in the medical record while upholding infection control policies.

Requirements include high school diploma or GED, CMA certification (or plan to obtain within 180 days), and BLS. Strong communication and computer skills are essential for this role.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• Current CMA certification or ability to obtain within 180 days of employment.
• Current BLS certification at time of hire or within 30 days of hire.
• Knowledge of medical terminology.
• Basic computer literacy with intermediate Excel skills.
• Ability to react calmly in emergency situations.
• Good communication and customer service skills.
• Tuberculosis screening and immunity documentation required.

Responsibilities

• Operates diagnostic equipment and performs basic procedures (e.g., wound care, specimen collection, EKGs).
• Rooms patients and prepares for examination.
• Records patient care documentation accurately and timely.
• Coordinates patient care under provider supervision.
• Maintains infection control, privacy and confidentiality standards.
