Job summary

UNC Health is seeking a Medical Assistant II, Certified to support outpatient clinics in Chapel Hill, NC. This role provides routine clinical and administrative duties under the supervision of a provider and clinic manager, contributing to efficient patient care.

Responsibilities include rooming patients, collecting data, assisting with procedures, and ensuring properly stocked rooms. A commitment incentive of $7,500 is offered, with state benefits and 40-hour work weeks.

Qualifications

• Must have Medical Assistant certification from AAMA/AMT/CCMA/NRCMA/NCMA.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
• At least one year of full-time experience as a Medical Assistant.
• Completion of an accredited Medical Assisting program is strongly preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Rooming/intake: collect vital signs and visit data.
• Collect patient and family medical/social history.
• Review current medications and allergies; coordinate with pharmacy.
• Assist provider during exams and procedures.
• Perform phlebotomy and collect specimens.
• Administer medications under direction of a provider.
• Conduct tests (e.g., EKG, eye exams) under supervision.
• Ensure exam rooms have supplies and are ready for visits.
• Provide post-visit instructions and educational materials.
• Prepare and maintain exam/treatment rooms; sterilize instruments.
• Assist with registration, check-in/out, scheduling, referrals.
• Answer clinic calls and triage under provider/nurse guidance.
• Assist in emergency situations as directed.
• Precept/train new medical assistants; support quality/safety roles.
